On this episode we talk about Uncle Scrooge and the Seven Cities of Gold.  This is of course a collection Golden Age Disney cartoon strips written and drawn by the legendary Carl Barks. This collection encompasses a lot of material alternating between single page “gag” cartoons and longer adventure style stories. For our purposes we focus primarily on the first story that the collection takes its name from (sort of) The Seven Cities of Cibola. This particular story, while being written for children, has had significant influence on later creators. Famously Steven Spielberg and George Lucas for instance have cited it for being an inspiration for Raiders of the Lost Arc. So, that’s not too shabby. Also, the art and style of Carl Barks is unparalleled in the medium – he’s really good. So join two grown men as we talk lovingly about a children’s book from the 1950s – its fun!

We also talk about Comicsgate because we love to polarize our audience. Also because diversity is good and make comics better (spoiler I guess as to our opinion?) In addition we discuss the new creative team on Conan the Barbarian’s return to Marvel and the announcement that Grant Morrison will be taking on The Green Lantern. Sadly its Hal Jordan – but if anyone can make that character interesting it should be Grant Morrison.

So join us – Paul Matthew Carr and Brian K. Reese – for a lively and rambling and hopefully entertaining discussion on comics and comic related material.
