On this episode we discuss the classic 1989 Elseworld story Gotham by Gaslight  – the Victorian era Batman adventure by Brian Augustyn and Mike Mignola. An Elseworlds story of course is an alternate version of a character not set in the main continuity. This could involve alternate realities, timelines, or time periods. In this way a character could be explored in radically different ways allowing the writer and artist to experiment and innovate on that character and his or her setting. In this story we find Bat-Man (with a hyphen) and his alter ego Bruce Wayne living in 1889 the height of the Victorian age on the hunt for the infamous Jack the Ripper. Batman as a concept works surprisingly well in 1889. Go figure.

Also on the program we discuss the possible Lobo film adaptation directed by none other than Michael Bay – so if you thought Lobo had very little substance to begin with just wait till Bay gets his hands on him. Also, we discuss the possibility of Joaquin Phoenix playing the Joker in the mythical Martin Scorsese produced Joker origin movie where we ask the inevitable question: Why? Just…why?

So join us – Paul Matthew Carr and Brian K. Reese – for a lively and rambling and hopefully entertaining discussion on comics and comic related material.
