On today’s program we will be discussing the 1987 classic Spider-Man arc: Kraven’s Last Hunt. This is the outstanding and frankly amazing 6 issue story written by J.M. DeMatteis and art by Mike Zeck. Both are at the top of their game here – the writing is fantastic and the art is some of the best Zeck has ever produced. this is dark, disturbing, complex and thrilling – it is a prime example of what makes comics so appealing as a medium and shows just why it can do things and tell stories in ways no other medium can. This is a good story.
Also on the program we discuss the ending of Vertigo – the adult-oriented DC imprint that was highly influential and spawned so many classic series that would be too numerous to mention here. Vertigo’s demise is a big loss for comics and Brian and I spend some time reminiscing about Vertigo’s importance and lamenting it’s end.
So join us – Paul Matthew Carr and Brian K. Reese – for a lively and rambling and hopefully entertaining discussion on comics and comic related material.
