On this episode we talk about Marvel Masterworks Luke Cage, Power Man vol. 2. This edition covers issues 17 thru 31 of Power Man and was written and drawn by…just so many people. Some of the more prominent are: Len Wein, Tony Isabella, Don McGregor, George Tuska, Ron Wilson, George Pérez, and several others. This is a transitional period for Luke Cage as a charterer as writers and artists try to find out what and who the character is. Along the way there are some wonderful moments and a few creditworthy ones as well. But it is experimental and modern and full of 70s goofiness that makes Marvel at this time a joy to read.
In addition we talk about the firing of James Gunn, so the won’t be too controversial or polarizing or anything. Also we talk about the new Shazam! trailer and Brian weighs in on his feeling about Batman #50.
So join us – Paul Matthew Carr and Brian K. Reese – for a lively and rambling and hopefully entertaining discussion on comics and comic related material.
Trailer played on the show: The Longbox Crusade
